David Winters Obituary, Death – Monroeville, and the broader community, mourns the passing of David A. “Dave” Winters, a kind-hearted and self-sufficient man who left an indelible mark on those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Dave passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the age of 61, surrounded by the memories of a life filled with passions, hobbies, and genuine kindness. Born on August 27, 1961, in Sandusky, Dave was the son of Robert L. and Dorothy J. (Fodge) Winters. A 1980 graduate of Huron High School, he embodied the spirit of a true local, deeply rooted in the community he called home.
Dave’s kindness was a defining characteristic. He touched the lives of those around him with a warm heart and a genuine concern for others. An avid beer can collector, history buff, and lover of museums, Dave found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His enthusiasm for the races, particularly at the Norwalk Raceway, was evident, reflecting his appreciation for speed and competition. Cats and classic cars held a special place in Dave’s heart, particularly Chevrolet models. His love for these feline companions and classic automobiles showcased his diverse and endearing interests. Dave’s passion for self-sufficiency, green living, and independence was reflected in his skills in woodworking and landscaping. His home, a testament to his talents, bore witness to his dedication and creativity.
Professionally, Dave worked for Borgers Inc. as a material handler, contributing his skills and dedication to his workplace. Outside of work, his interests spanned 4-wheelers, guns, and target shooting, showcasing the diverse facets of his personality. Dave is survived by his sister, Bobbi Mosley; niece, Danielle Mosley; nephews, Dustin (Kenzie) Mosley and Devon (Sam) Mosley; great-nieces, Ruby and Stevie; stepmother, Ann Winters; stepsiblings, Michelle (Paul) Finley, Marqueta (Gene) Galyean, and Mark Willis; uncle, Bobby Fodge; aunt, Helen Lather; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepbrother Mike Willis, and several aunts and uncles.
A celebration of Dave’s life is planned for 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Norwalk Eagles 711, located at 151 Cline St., Norwalk. The community is invited to join in remembering and honoring the life of David A. “Dave” Winters, a cherished individual who brought joy and warmth to the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
