Since the stabbing, Bolsonaro has been treated by Brazilian physician Antonio Luiz Macedo. He has an intestinal obstruction but is not expected to need surgery, according to Dr. Macedo.

He has had six operations since the stabbing, four of which were directly connected to the attack.

In the years after being stabbed while vying for the presidency in 2018, Bolsonaro has had to visit the hospital many times for intestinal blockages.

He has also recently developed intestinal adhesions and obstructions.
